THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND
TWO NEW APPOINTMENTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The International Association of Blacks in Dance is pleased to announce the addition of three new Next Generation Leaders to the Board of Directors: Ayisha Morgan-Lee, Iquail Shaheed, E. Gaynell Sherrod, Ed.D. The Board provides leadership for carrying out the Association’s mission to preserve and promote dance by people of African ancestry or origin. Additional new Board appointments include Yvonne Walker, Baltimore Dance Tech as Chairperson and Vivine Scarlett, dance Immersion as Secretary of the 2017 Board of Directors.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Lula Washington Dance Theatre, celebrating a 37-year commitment and contribution to dance in Los Angeles, welcomes the 30th Annual International Conference and Festival Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) in Los Angeles, CA from January 23 – 28, 2018. Performances by world-renowned dance companies will be open to the public and feature some of most prominent individuals on the global dance stage as well as emerging artists.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Dance Papers, Digital Presentations/ Films, Lecture/ Lec-Demo, Movement Workshops, Panels, Roundtable Discussions, and Proposals

DEADLINE: Sunday, October 15, 2017

The conference and festival programming committee invites proposals for panels, papers, lecture demonstrations, roundtable discussions, digital presentations/ film, and movement workshops that address the theme of Honoring Legacies: Past, Present, and Future. By offering opportunities to reflect on the heritage, legacies, histories, geographies, places, and spaces of dance of the African and African American Diaspora, the conference and festival aims to both celebrate the achievements of elders and foster the talent of a new generation of dance practitioners and of new dance scholars.
